At Sia Wallet, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our wallet application and services.

1. Information We Collect

Sia Wallet is designed as a non-custodial desktop application. By default, it does not require you to create an account, submit personal information, or disclose any identity details. All private keys, recovery seeds, wallet passwords, and transaction data remain exclusively on your local device and are never transmitted to the Provider.

The Wallet itself does not actively collect or transmit identifiable information to the Provider. However, certain limited categories of information may be collected when you interact with our broader services (such as our website or support channels):

  • Voluntarily provided information
  • Contact details you choose to provide when reaching out for support (e.g., email address).
  • Feedback or bug reports you submit through official communication channels.
  • Automatically collected information (website only, not the wallet application)
  • Basic technical data such as browser type, operating system, or referring URLs when visiting our official website.
  • Aggregated analytics regarding website traffic patterns, collected via cookies or analytics tools (see Section 6).

The Wallet application itself does not transmit usage analytics, telemetry, or performance reports by default. If optional diagnostic reporting is ever introduced in the future, it will be strictly opt-in and clearly explained before activation.

Important: At no point does the Provider collect or have access to your private keys, recovery seeds, wallet passwords, balances, or transaction details. These remain entirely under your control on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

Because Sia Wallet is a local-first, non-custodial application, the Wallet itself does not use or process your personal data. All cryptographic material and transaction history remain exclusively on your device and under your control.

The limited information that may be collected through our website, community channels, or support services is used only for the following purposes:

  • Support and communication — responding to inquiries, bug reports, and feature requests submitted by you.
  • Service improvement — reviewing feedback to improve Wallet usability, stability, and security.
  • Security notifications — informing users of urgent issues such as vulnerabilities, required updates, or protocol changes.
  • Website operations — analyzing aggregate traffic patterns to maintain and improve the performance of our website and documentation.
  • Legal compliance — complying with applicable legal requirements if we are obligated to disclose limited information (e.g., support correspondence) to regulatory authorities.

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or commercial resale. All use of information is strictly limited to operational and support purposes.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Sia Wallet is designed to operate without transmitting personal information to the Provider. The Wallet application itself does not send user data, private keys, or transaction details to any external party.

In the limited cases where information is voluntarily provided by you (for example, when submitting a support request or contacting us via community channels), such information may be shared or disclosed only under the following circumstances:

Service Providers

We may use third-party infrastructure providers (such as website hosting, email delivery, or error-reporting tools) to operate our public-facing services. These providers are contractually obligated to handle any data securely and only for the purpose of delivering the service.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or other legal process. We may also disclose information if necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our community.

Business Transfers

In the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of operational responsibility for the Wallet project, relevant non-sensitive user communications (such as support tickets) may be transferred as part of that process.

Outside of these specific circumstances, we do not sell, rent, or trade any information provided to us. The Wallet application itself remains entirely under your control and does not transmit your keys, recovery seeds, balances, or transactions.

4. Data Security

The design of Sia Wallet prioritizes local control and privacy. Because it is a non-custodial desktop application, all private keys, recovery seeds, wallet passwords, and transaction data are generated and stored on your own device. These materials are never transmitted to the Provider or stored on any external servers.

The security of your wallet therefore depends primarily on the measures you take to protect your device and backups. We strongly encourage you to:

  • Use strong, unique passwords and enable full-disk encryption on your device.
  • Keep your operating system and applications up to date with security patches.
  • Store recovery seeds in secure, offline locations.
  • Protect against malware, spyware, and unauthorized physical access.

For the limited information that may be processed outside the wallet application (such as website analytics, support emails, or community communications), the Provider applies industry-standard practices, including:

  • Encrypted communications via HTTPS/TLS.
  • Access controls restricting who can view support or administrative data.
  • Regular monitoring of infrastructure used to host websites or documentation.
Note: However, no software or internet-based service is completely immune to risk. While we take reasonable steps to protect information under our control, we cannot guarantee absolute security of any data transmitted over the internet or stored on user devices.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Because Sia Wallet is a non-custodial application, the Provider does not hold or manage your wallet data. All keys, seeds, balances, and transaction details remain exclusively on your device. This means that you already retain full control over your cryptocurrency information, and requests such as “deletion” or “correction” must be performed by you locally, not by the Provider.

For the limited personal data that may be collected outside the Wallet (such as when you contact us for support or interact with our website), you may exercise standard data protection rights under applicable law, including:

  • Access: request a copy of any personal information you have voluntarily provided to us (e.g., support communications)
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or outdated contact information you shared.
  • Deletion: request deletion of personal data you submitted through support or community channels, subject to legal requirements.
  • Portability: request transfer of the limited information we hold about you to another service, where technically feasible.
  • Opt-out: unsubscribe from optional communications such as newsletters or announcements.
  • Restriction: request that we limit processing of your personal data in cases permitted by law.

To exercise these rights, you may contact us through the details provided in the Contact Us section of this Privacy Policy. We will review and respond to requests in accordance with applicable legal requirements, typically within 30 days.

Please note that these rights do not extend to wallet-specific data such as your recovery seed, private keys, or transactions, since these are never collected, stored, or accessible to the Provider.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Sia Wallet desktop application does not use cookies, trackers, or telemetry. All wallet functions, including key management and transactions, are performed locally on your device without reliance on external tracking technologies.

Our official website and documentation portal may use cookies and similar technologies for limited purposes, such as:

Essential Cookies

Required for core website functionality, such as secure session handling and preventing malicious activity.

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand general traffic patterns (e.g., number of visits, popular pages) so we can improve the website. These do not identify individual users.

Preference Cookies

Remember user-selected settings (such as language preferences) to provide a smoother browsing experience.

You can control or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that blocking certain cookies may affect the functionality of our website, but it will not impact your use of the Wallet application.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or behavioral profiling technologies.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, developments in the Wallet, or updates required by law. Any modifications will be published on our official website, and the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document will be revised accordingly.

For material changes, we will take additional steps to notify users, which may include:

  • Posting an announcement on the official Sia Wallet website
  • Displaying a notice in the Wallet application or documentation portal
  • Sharing updates through official community channels (such as GitHub or Discord)

Because Sia Wallet does not require registration or accounts, we do not send individualized email notifications. It is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed of any updates.

Your continued use of the Wallet after an updated version of this Privacy Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you must discontinue use of the Wallet and uninstall it from your device.

8. User Control and Final Notice

Sia Wallet is built on the principle of self-custody. All cryptographic keys, recovery seeds, balances, and transaction details remain exclusively on your device, under your sole control. The Provider does not store, recover, or monitor this information and cannot restore access if it is lost or compromised.

By using the Wallet, you acknowledge that the responsibility for safeguarding your privacy and security rests entirely with you. This includes maintaining secure backups of your recovery materials, protecting your device against unauthorized access, and ensuring compliance with any legal obligations in your jurisdiction.

Your continued use of Sia Wallet confirms your acceptance of this design philosophy and your role as the sole custodian of your data and assets.
